Chelsea Football Club of England won this Saturday, February 12, 2022, the only trophy it was missing. This is the FIFA Club World Cup. To afford the title, the band of Thomas Tuchel defeated (2-1) Palmeiras, in extra time, thanks to a saving goal from Kai Havertz.
Chelsea, February 12, 2022._The final of the Club World Cup this Saturday pitted the teams of Chelsea and Palmeiras, respectively, winners of the UEFA Champions League and the South American Club Cup.
The coveted league title was lifted by the London Blues in extra time, courtesy of two goals from Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz.
First, the Belgian striker allowed Chelsea to take the lead in the game in the 55th minute of play. The latter headed in a cross from Calum Hudson Odoi.
To restore the balance, Raphaël Veiga punished Chelsea on a penalty in the 64th minute of play, after having benefited from a handball from Thiago Silva which sent the two teams into extra time.
In the 118th minute of play, the young German player, Kai Havertz, gave victory to Chelsea thanks to another penalty conceded by a Brazilian defender. This goal crowned the English for the first time in this competition, after their failure in 2013.
It should also be noted that Chelsea had the right to play in the Club World Cup for having won (1-0) against Manchester City, the last edition of the FIFA Champions League.
