Chelsea ‘to compete with Man Utd’ as transfer race for Moises Caicedo intensifies

Manchester United face new competition for Moises Caicedo, with reports from the midfielder, Ecuador native, claiming Chelsea have joined the race for his signing.

Caicedo, 19, became a transfer target for United in January after breaking onto the scene with Independiente del Valle last season.

The central midfielder rose through the ranks with the Ecuadorian club and made his senior debut in October.

An Ecuadorian first cap quickly followed and Caicedo has since made three more national team appearances, scoring once.

His performances as a teenager caught the attention of clubs across Europe including Manchester United, West Ham and Ajax.

But Ecuadorian exit The Telegraph claim Chelsea also love Caicedo and that rumored rumors United are about to agree to a £ 5.5million fee for the player.

Independiente del Valle general manager Santiago Morales admitted Caicedo would likely be leaving his club this year in a recent interview with Radio La Red .

“There is interest from different teams for Moises Caicedo and we think we won’t have it this year,” said Morales.
