London. Chelsea settled their visit to Wolverhampton with a 6-2 thrashing in the second match of the Premier League, in which Noni Madueke scored a hat-trickassisted on all three goals by Cole Palmer.
After starting the season with a defeat against Manchester City (2-0), Enzo Maresca added his first victory in the English championship as coach of the Bluesdespite a hesitant first half.
The Londoners took the lead twice, with a header from Niclas Jackson (2, 1-0) and an incredible chip from Palmer (45, 2-1), but the defence gave up against Matheus Cunha (27, 1-1) and Jorgen Strand Larsen (45+6, 2-2).
In the second half, Chelsea came out on top against a disorganized and unrecognizable Wolverhampton.
Madueke was booed throughout the match at Molineux after posting and then deleting an insulting message about the city of Wolverhampton on social media, but this did not seem to affect him.
The 22-year-old English winger signed a hat-trickassisted on each of his three goals by Palmer (49, 58, 63). Chelsea rounded off the rout with a cross from Pedro Neto, signed from Wolverhampton, to his compatriot Joao Felix (80, 6-2), after both had come on from the bench.
In the match that will close the second round of matches, Liverpool will host Brentford this Sunday at 15:30 GMT.
