Newly-promoted club Ipswich are set to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja on a season-long loan in a deal that could become permanent, BBC Sport reports.
Ipswich have included a clause that would allow them to sign Broja permanently for £30million if they avoid relegation.
A transfer would also be conditional on Ipswich agreeing a contract with Broja at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old Albania international was initially reluctant to move to Portman Road but was convinced on Tuesday to make the switch, which is expected to go through on Wednesday, pending the completion of a medical.
Ipswich used the promotion windfall to improve Kieran McKenna’s squad, adding Omari Hutchinson permanently from Chelsea, as well as Ben Johnson, Liam Delap, Arijanet Muric, Sammie Szmodics, Kalvin Phillips and Jens Cajuste.
Broja took part in Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States but began training with Chelsea’s ‘loan group’ upon his return to London after being deemed surplus to requirements.
The homegrown star has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in December 2022 and also had a disappointing loan spell at Fulham last season.
