Chelsea emerge from the crisis after reaching the CL quarter-finals with a victory over Dortmund.
It hasn’t been fun as a Blues fan in recent months, but Chelsea are out of trouble for at least a while.
On their own facilities at Stamford Bridge, the English beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Tuesday evening (go 0-1) and thus qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
In a thrilling duel, in which Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz scored the goals, Dutch referee Danny Makkelie did not have an easy evening. He also sometimes needed the help of VAR, especially on the decisive penalty for Chelsea.
Two wins
Londoners couldn’t rejoice much this year.
Only two of the twelve matches have been won. Under head coach Graham Potter, who is to bring the magic back to Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel was sacked.
But Graham instead received death threats, the club spent millions and scored few points. Chelsea have dropped to tenth place in the Premier League.
But the English are now simply one of the eight best clubs in Europe.
A list in which Dortmund could fit better, given its form and its place in the national ranking. Because the Germans are tied for first in the Bundesliga and have won all their ten games played since mid-November.
