Chelsea have revived for a few days the possibility of recruiting Enzo Fernandez before the end of this Premier League transfer window. But Benfica Lisbon does not intend to let it go.
Chelsea are determined to reach an agreement with Benfica Lisbon for the transfer ofEnzo Fernandez before the winter transfer window closes. According to le Telegraph, the leaders of the London club have therefore reopened negotiations with their Portuguese counterparts in recent days. The Portuguese club have turned down several offers already and have made it known that they have no plans to sell the Argentina international at the moment.
Chelsea must pay the release clause
However, Chelsea hope to return with an offer that will bend Benfica Lisbon’s determination in this matter concerning Enzo Fernandez. While the London club is having difficulty concluding the one concerning Moises Caicedo, he will put everything on the table to convince the Portuguese club. He had indicated at the start of the Premier League transfer window that only the payment in one go of the release clause fixed in the player’s contract would make the deal possible. This clause would be for an amount of 120 million euros.
600 million euros in spending for Chelsea?
For his part, the Argentinian international wants to join Chelsea. This winter or next summer. It would therefore not be a problem in terms of his future contract which would already be ready according to the British daily. In the event of the transfer of Enzo Fernandez, the total expenditure of the Blues for the 2022-2023 season in terms of transfers could exceed 600 million euros.
