Chelsea – Real Madrid: Carlo Ancelotti did not travel to London

Real Madrid travel tomorrow Wednesday to challenge Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final. But Luka Modric; Karim Benzema and co. will not count on the presence of their coach Carlo Ancelotti, who is still positive for Coronavirus.

The Italian technician tested positive last week and was backed up by his son and assistant Davide Ancelotti in Real Madrid’s win over Celta Vigo on Saturday. According to Marca, Ancelotti hasn’t recovered yet and still tested positive for COVID, meaning he stayed at Madrid. However, he could join the group tomorrow in England if his new test is negative.

As a reminder, Ancelotti spent two seasons at Chelsea between 2009 and 2011, winning 68 of his 109 games in charge of the Blues. He won a Premier League, FA Cup and Charity Shield during his time at the club. The former coach of Milan and PSG signed a three-year contract with Real Madrid last summer and is on course to win his first La Liga title as a manager.
