Chelsea qualified for the League Cup final on Tuesday. The Londoners swept Middlesbrough off the mat at Stamford Bridge: 6-1. That was more than enough after the 1-0 defeat in the first game.

Chelsea knew that they had to do better in the return than two weeks ago. The team of coach Mauricio Pochettino then embarrassed itself by losing 1-0 at Middlesbrough, which is in the middle of the Championship.

Halfway through the job was already done. Chelsea took a 4-0 lead with goals from Jonny Howson (own goal), Enzo Fernández, Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer.

After halftime, the London show continued. Palmer scored his second, after which substitute former PSV player Noni Madueke scored the sixth Chelsea goal. Morgan Rogers then saved the honor for Middlesbrough. Dutchman Rav van den Berg had a starting place among the visitors.

Chelsea will face the winner of the match between Liverpool and Fulham in the final on Sunday, February 25. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s team won the first leg 2-1. The return is Wednesday evening in London.
