Chelsea put pressure on Didier Deschamps

Chelsea have once again done everything possible to repatriate the player revealed at ASSE, Wesley Fofana, currently with the French team.

Selected then repatriated… History has been repeating itself for some time for Wesley Fofana who has been hampered by physical problems since his explosion with ASSE in Ligue 1. Victim of a serious injury in the summer of 2023, Wesley Fofana had undergone surgery a year ago on the right knee following a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. Since then, Chelsea has done everything possible to preserve their player even if it means hindering his rise with the French team.

Last September, the Blues had already managed to convince Didier Deschamps’ staff to leave Wesley Fofana to rest. Which may be understandable for Chelsea who dropped 81 million euros in 2022 to sign him from Leicester and the defender has only played less than 30 games since his arrival.

Chelsea put the pressure on

In today’s edition, L’Equipe reveals that Chelsea did everything possible to ensure that Wesley Fofana did not join the Blues in October. A lot of pressure which logically hinders the integration of the Frenchman, who obviously really likes Didier Deschamps who does not hesitate to select him as soon as he can. The staff of the French team, however, did not give in this time for the former ASSE player.

Tests were taken on Monday to examine Wesley Fofana’s knee. Chelsea have been informed, it remains to be seen whether this will be enough to ease tensions between the staff of the French team and the English leader. “The Blues were still convinced yesterday that they could keep him this week,” we read this October 8 in L’Equipe. So it’s a failure for Chelsea… Let’s hope for Wesley Fofana that everything goes well.
