Chelsea misses the opportunity against Nottingham Forest

Chelsea played an uneventful match against Nottingham in their stadium, adding a point that could have become zero if it weren’t for the magnificent performance of the Blues’ Spanish goalkeeper.

Chelsea and Nottingham Forest met at Stamford Bridge in the match concerning the day 7 of the Premier League. The local team had just put on a good performance in the UEFA Conference League and won 4-2 against KAA Gent.

In the first minutes, Chelsea looked to hurt the Nottingham defense with lateral crosses, which, however, were not very successful. Furthermore, it was going to be Nottingham Forest who was going to offer the first chance clear in the 11th minute, a header from Wood that Robert Sánchez was going to block.

The first 20 minutes were going to be dominated by “the blues”, who proposed the offensive game while the visiting team tried to protect themselves. When Chelsea dominated the game the most, the first yellow cardboard was going to arrive of the party. I would be for Caicedowho committed a foul close to the area, which, however, would not end up having much significance. The first yellow card, this time for Nottingham, was going to be seen by Ward-Prowse after grabbing Cole Palmer with the aim of quickly stopping the London team’s attack. This lack was going to be wasted by Chelsea, who fail to create clear chances from set pieces.

As time begins to run out in the first half, the visiting team begins to try shots from outside the area after failing to create chances from inside. The last big play of the first 45 minutes would be an attack by Chelsea, who would not be able to beat Sels after a series of rebounds and inaccuracies. The referee ends up adding a minute of stoppage time, in which nothing of importance happens.

The second half began with both teams engaged, but especially Nottingham Forest, because after a “comb-over” by Milenkovic, Wood was going to get his boot just enough to beat Robert Sánchez and make it 0-1. It was going to take less than ten minutes for Maresca’s team to respond, as two of Chelsea’s most in-form players were going to be the protagonists again: Madueke scores and Palmer assists. In the 78th minute Ward-Prowse was going to be sent off for a double yellow, leaving his team with one less than 25 minutes. The most interesting thing would come in the last 20 minutes of the game, since from 78 to 87 there would be some changes and some cards would be seen for both teams.

In the 87th minute, Neco Williams kicks Marc Cucurella off the field, when there is no option to play the ball, which starts a big fight between players and substitutes from both teams. Despite the voluminous discussion, the referee resolves the situation with two yellow cards for Chelsea and one for Nottingham Forest.

The 90th minute enters and the fourth referee shows the board with the addition: 13 minutes. The match becomes constant ups and downs of both teams, which gives us two beautiful plays with two clear protagonists, the two goalkeepers. Firstly, Nottingham has one of the clearest chances of the second half, but finds a great Robert Sánchez, who makes an incredible save, giving way to his team’s counterattack, because this time it is Sels who saves his team on two occasions. Chelsea, despite being one more during a portion of the match, was reduced by Nottingham. Finally, Robert Sánchez ends up making another great stop on Silva and maintains his team’s pointplacing himself as one of the best of the meeting.

The match ends after a few heart-stopping minutes: A 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
