Last week it was rumored that Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez was interested in joining FC Barcelona, so much so that he asked his agent to explore the possibility of a deal.
The rumor comes after a rather disappointing 12 months at the Premier League club for Fernandez, who joined the club after winning the World Cup with Argentina in December 2022.
However, he was quick to quell such speculation. After scoring for Chelsea in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night, Fernandez confirmed the FC Barcelona rumors were unfounded, to the pages of MD.
A closed case
“I don’t want to leave Chelsea. I have been very happy here with my teammates and the coaching staff since the first day I arrived. The people at the club treat me very well, I am grateful for that. I’ll stay here until they want me to leave. I don’t know where these rumors come from, they appeared on social media. I totally deny them.”
The fact is that even if Fernandez wanted to join Barcelona, a deal would have been virtually impossible, due to Chelsea’s likely demands and the Catalan club’s ongoing financial problems. We can therefore say that this matter is closed.
