Chelsea Makes Moises Caicedo the Most Expensive Player in British Football with £115 Million Deal

According to media reports today, Monday, that the English club Chelsea agreed to make Ecuadorian Moises Caicedo the most expensive player in British football by signing him from his local rival, Brighton, for 115 million pounds.

This amount is equivalent to about 146 million US dollars or about 133 million euros.

The 21-year-old Ecuadorian international midfielder was also a target for Liverpool, who agreed with Brighton on Friday to include him in a record deal of 110 million pounds with Brighton.

However, Caicedo preferred to move to Chelsea, noting that he had given his “word” to the London club, as it turned out during the weekend.

Caicedo will join the West London club on an 8-year contract, according to British media, according to AFP.

Chelsea, who tied Sunday with Liverpool 1-1 in the opening stage of the English Premier League, hopes that Caicedo will be available to play with him in the match next weekend on the land of London neighbors West Ham.

And the new coach of Chelsea, Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, can count on Caicedo in the middle of the field, alongside his compatriot, world champion Enso Fernandez, who was the British record holder when he joined the London club from Benfica in January for 107 million pounds.

Caicedo was excluded from the Brighton squad in his first match in the Premier League, which ended with a 4-1 victory over Luton on Saturday.

Caicedo deal in numbers:

Independiente sold him to Brighton in 2021 for $5 million. Liverpool offered Brighton an estimated $140 million. Chelsea raised the bid to $146 million
