Chelsea are still keen to find a solution for Ben Chilwell as the England left-back is clearly not part of their first-team plans for the coming season.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside For the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column, Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Chilwell’s situation after he was the subject of an enquiry from Brentford at the end of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has publicly stated that Chilwell has no role to play in his plans for this season, but it appears the Blues never had a particularly clear opportunity to offload the 27-year-old.
Chilwell apparently attracted some interest from Brentford in the final days of the window, but that never resulted in a particularly advanced deal, so Chelsea are now keeping that situation open, with Romano hinting that other markets could be an opportunity for them, as some clubs in other leagues are still able to sign players for a little longer.

“There could be moves for Ben Chilwell, that’s for sure. I don’t have any information at the moment. I’ve only been told that Brentford called in the last two or three days of the window to understand the situation, but it never led to anything concrete or advanced,” Romano said.
“There are other markets open now and Chelsea are still keen to find a solution for Chilwell if they can.”

Although the England international has been a little injury prone, he is a huge talent on his days and could prove a useful option for many teams if he can put his issues behind him and stay fit more often.
