On November 22, Moralzarzal Theater with the play “Hotel Chelsea“, organized by the Department of Social Services, for November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The play will begin at 8:00 p.m. and admission is free.
The actors Laura Ledesma (Dos Vidas, Diana) and Ángel Caballero (Disappeared, Brigada Costa del Sol) take to the stage, putting themselves in the shoes of Janis Joplin and Leonard Cohen to transport us, through music and passion, to a era and a place… the legendary Chelsea Hotel in New York.
At the end of the sixties, Janis Joplin and Leonard Cohen, two of the most famous singers of the moment, spent a night together at the legendary Chelsea Hotel in New York.
What, a priori, might seem like just one more of the many sexual encounters of the time between artists becomes a night that will mark both their lives forever.
Shortly after, Joplin dies in another hotel room and Cohen, as a catharsis, composes a song for her remembering that night in which two strangers talked to each other and made love as if they were old friends.
But… What would have happened if Joplin had not fled the room that morning? Would they still be together as a couple? Could this have prevented his death? What if they could see each other again? And if life or, perhaps, death gave them another chance to return to that night… to return to the Chelsea Hotel.
