Chelsea continued his good pace after beating Leeds United. Manager Liverpool Jürgen Klopp believes Chelsea deserves to be favorites as champions of the league this season.
The Blues picked up a 3-1 victory over the promoted team at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (6/12/2020). After falling behind first through Patrick Bamford’s goal, Chelsea made a comeback with three goals from Olivier Giroud, Kurt Zouma and Christian Pulisic.
With that result, Chelsea is unbeaten in its last nine matches including five wins. The West London team performed consistently after winning only once in their first five matches.
Three additional points from Leeds raised the Blue to the top of the standings with 22 points. Chelsea are one point ahead of reigning champions Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the top three, who will compete tonight.
At first, Liverpool predicted to only be rivaled by Manchester City in the hunt for the Premier League title this season. However, Klopp believes Chelsea should be taken into account too.
“If I watch football matches now, then Chelsea, to me looks like a favorite, “said Klopp on Sky Sports. “They have the biggest squad, great players who are doing very well after a choppy start.”
“They have incredible opportunities to change over a lot of games and make a lot of changes from game to game. So yes, there you have it.”
“I don’t feel we are chasing anyone at the moment or anyone after us. There is pressure for us, but it’s about how much you think about that pressure,” he added. Klopp.
