Chelsea would have considered signing Sofyan Amrabat during the last hours of the transfer window before Fiorentina intervened, refusing to let their midfielder leave on loan, reports Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Like FC Barcelona, Chelsea also tried to Sofyan Amrabat on the last day of the transfer window.
The Moroccan international had been followed by several European leaders since his excellent performances with Morocco at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, such as Liverpool, l’Atlético de Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur or l’Inter Milan.
However, Fiorentina have been clear on their player’s situation, saying he’s not for sale. Despite the loan offers, the Violets continued to refuse offers, although Amrabat expressed his desire to try a new adventure.
“Chelsea explored Sofyan Amrabat as a Deadline Day option before Enzo’s deal was sealed – direct contacts took place… but Fiorentina were never willing to let him go on loan,” wrote the specialist transfers on his Twitter account.
According to the same source, many top clubs continue to follow the Atlas Lion with a view to signing him in the next transfer window.
