Chelsea: Cole Palmer scores four goals in 20 minutes and makes Premier League history

This past Saturday afternoon, at half-time of the Chelsea – Brighton game, which was played as part of the sixth day of the Premier League, the Blues led 4-2. The Londoners scored four goals with their player, Cole Palmer, between the 21st and 41st minutes. According to Opta, never in the entire history of the Premier League, which was formed in 1992, had a player scored a quadruple before the break.

These goals are partly explained by the defensive fever of the seagulls, who, under pressure from the Blues, lost balls that led to the first (21st) and fourth goals (41st) from Palmer, who also took advantage of good services Nicolas Jackson and Jadon Sancho respectively. The England international’s other two achievements (8 caps, two goals) came from set pieces, namely a penalty (28th) and a brilliant free kick, executed from around 25 metres, that found the corner above of Bart Verbruggen (31st).
