The FIFA qualifying round is over and players are returning to their clubs for the European leagues. Moses Caicedo will return to the Chelsea with the novelty of having a new position.
Given the injuries to Reece James and Malo Gusto, the Ecuadorian will have to adapt to the right-back position. In the last two games, the tricolor was adapted to the defense at specific times of the match.
Moisés Caicedo has started in important matches for Chelsea in all competitions and his place will now be taken by Enzo Fernández in midfield.
The former Brighton player’s physical strength combined with his defensive qualities have led coach Enzo Maresca to consider the Ecuadorian for that position.
He is not the only Ecuadorian player who has been adapted to that position, since Piero Hincapié at Bayer Leverkusen also plays in that position when the coach needs him.

Bayern Munich was not the only team that wanted Moisés Caicedo on their team. Liverpool of England offered more than 120 million but the Ecuadorian team chose Chelsea.

Moisés Caicedo was Chelsea’s most expensive signing of the season and the Ecuadorian signed a contract until 2031. The tricolor is a key piece in the reconstruction of the London club for the coming years and he is already demonstrating it on the pitch in this first season.
