Emerson Palmieri could be available for Napoli on loan with option to buy after Chelsea have extended their contract, it has been learned.
The Italy international has long been seen as the first choice for the left-back position under new coach Luciano Spalletti at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
They hit a brick wall with Chelsea claiming over € 20million.
According to transfer specialist Nicolò Schira, there have now been some big developments that could see the move go smoothly.
Napoli had only wanted to take Emerson on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
This was not possible as his contract with Chelsea was due to expire in June 2022.
However, it is rumored that Chelsea have activated their option to extend until 2023, which means Emerson can now be allowed to join Napoli on loan with option to buy.
The 27-year-old has 19 senior caps for Italy, having been born and raised in Brazil, but came to Italy for Palermo in 2014.
He continued his experiences in Rome, where he previously worked with Spalletti, and moved to Chelsea in January 2018 for € 20million.
