Chelsea have in the first semi-final of the League Cup against Tottenham Hotspur an important blow. The Blues, met Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku, accepted in grace, in the starting line-up, won 2-0 against the fellow townsman.
The intentions of the home side were clear. Chelsea put Spurs early under pressure, which forced the visitors to make mistakes. Within ten minutes it went wrong for the first time at Tottenham Hotspur in the back. Marcos Alonso intercepted a too short play-in pass and brought in Kai Havertz, who signed for the opening goal. The error festival was not over yet. Twenty minutes later, Ziyech hurled a free kick into the sixteen, which Tottenham did not know how to handle. Japhet Tanganga headed the ball against the back of Ben Davies, making the second Chelsea goal a fact.

In the second half, Timo Werner in particular had the chance to almost certainly close the diptych. On the instructions of the cross-stitching Ziyech, the German attacker was twice put face to face with Hugo Lloris, but both times the Chelsea striker failed conspicuously. At the same time, Tottenham was able to offer very little in return. Bryan Gil was close to the connecting goal in the final phase, but the Spaniard did not score. Part one of the two confrontations has thus been settled in Chelsea’s favor.
The return at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is scheduled for January 12. Before that, Chelsea will play the FA Cup match against Chesterfield on January 8, which plays at the fifth tier of England.
What is this then? ????
