In recent months, the young talent of the Colombian league has been a matter of export. The most recent cases were those of Yerson Mosquera, Santiago Moreno and Jaminton Campaz, players who, without exceeding 21 years of age, have already been signed by large teams in the American continent and Europe. In that sense, Mosquera was the best seller, joining the English Wolverhampton for 5.2 million euros. Now, two Premier League giants would have their eyes set on Millionaires’ jewel, Emerson Rivaldo Rodríguez.
This scoop was announced by its representative, Diego Carannante, in an interview with Fiorentina.it.The businessman spoke in the first instance about the unsuccessful signing of Daniel Muñoz to Rafa Benítez’s Everton, but he also had enough time to talk about some footballers of the Colombian rented; “As a winger, I would recommend Emerson Rodríguez to Fiorentina, a Colombian born in 2001, owned by Millonarios de Bogotá and already seen by Manchester City and Chelsea”.
Unfortunately, the presence of Colombians on such Premier League teams does not bring back good memories for coffee soccer, knowing that highly talented prospects faded over time. This is the case of Marlos Moreno, champion of the Copa Libertadores with Nacional and acquired by City in 2016 for a sum of 5.5 million euros, but coming out on loan seven times until today. The other is Joao Rodríguez, current player from América de Cali and who belonged to Chelsea from 2012 to 2019, leaving on loan nine times.
So that, Emerson Rodríguez completes 39 games as a professional, since he made his debut on October 6, 2020 against Deportes Tolima in Ibagué. He has partially scored six goals and has given another six assists, which position him as a true talent of the near future. However, for now he is injured and will be out for more than a month.
