Award-winning singer-songwriter Cheeyang Ng will make his London debut with Fat, feminine and Asian on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Born and raised in Singapore, Cheeyang has performed at renowned venues such as Lincoln Center alongside Carole King and Carnegie Hall with a cappella group Vocalosity. With an MFA from New York University and a BMus from Berklee College of Music, Cheeyang is the first Singaporean to headline concerts at Joe’s Pub and the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage. Your next musical Maya will have a workshop in the UK in 2025.
Winners of the Princess Grace Award (previously received by artists including Jon M Chu and Leslie Odom Jr), they will present an evening of original songs from their musicals in development and solo works.
At 7:00 p.m. at Crazy Coqs, Brasserie Zedel, the show’s audience will be able to enjoy selections from Eastward (written with Khiyon Hursey of hamilton), Maya (co-written with Eric Sorrels), The Phoenix (with Desdemona Chiang and Eric Sorrels), and LegendaryCheeyang solo exhibition. The concert will also include viral TikTok originals inspired by Stops the heart.
A Cheeyang se unirá Roshani Abbey (hamilton), Desmonda Cathabel (Disney aladdin), Diya Sohi (The girls in the glass), Aaron Teoh (Wicked film), and Sonya Venugopal (life of pi). The concert is directed by Nina Zoie Lam (Miss Saigon, hawk eye) with musical direction by Yshani Perinpanayagam (Royal Opera House).
