The cheese shelves at Albert Heijn are likely to be refilled soon after problems at a supplier of the supermarket chain. Bakker Logistics was hacked last week, so that the company was no longer able to deliver prepacked cheeses and other fresh products, but that hack has now been solved, Bakker Logistics director Toon Verhoeven told NU.nl on Monday.
“We were hacked from Sunday to Monday last week, which meant that we could no longer access our automation systems. A large part of our company was still able to deliver on Tuesday and Wednesday, but we had problems on Thursday and Friday,” said Verhoeven.
The director has hired an external company to solve the problems and has now succeeded. He does not want to say anything about the technical details of the hack. Against The Telegraph says Verhoeven that it was ransomware and that a report has been made. According to him, shipments will leave again on Monday. “We are now working with customers to fine-tune start-up protocols and get everything back in order.”
Shelves quickly refilled
Verhoeven does not dare to say how quickly the products will be back in stock in the supermarket. A spokesperson for Albert Heijn also has no details yet, but hopes that the situation will be back in order as soon as possible.
According to a spokesperson for the Central Food Bureau (CBL), it usually takes about a day to fill the shelves for fresh products.
“There was a hack at the supplier, but the factory just kept going, so the stuff is just there,” said the spokesman. “I don’t know the details of this particular situation, but you can assume that there are trucks driving from the factory to the distribution centers today. Then it will be in the shops tomorrow or maybe even tonight.”
