For years, Mercedes and BYD had a partnership that has come to an end. All because the Germans started to lose money on this alliance. While the Chinese are left to use and enjoy the Denza brand of electric vehicles, the Germans have found another that deserves a place among the great Asian manufacturers: Geely. This Chinese colossus has a staff of scientists and has a very good relationship with the Stuttgart brand, which will receive a new petrol and hybrid engine developed by Aurobay. Geely and Renault own the Swedish-Chinese subsidiary of HORSE, a new engine company. Previously, information had already appeared that this is a gasoline unit with a hybrid bias, but now new technical details are known about the unit, which will debut in 2026. This is a four- 2.0-liter cylinder called “Miller Medium Power” that provides a maximum power of 250 hp. and a torque of 360 Nm. The new Mercedes petrol engine, which will be produced in China and supplied to Germany, meets the strict Euro 6e-bis emissions standard thanks to particulate filters and a catalyst that has increased durability a- now due to lower gas temperature – one of the advantages of the Miller cycle.
