A new crop of farmers was presented on Sunday evening during the kick-off of a new series Farmer seeks Woman International. This is the third time that the program also follows Dutch farmers outside the country’s borders. How did the farmers from the most recent international season turn out?
Herman and Fleur
In the 2016/2017 season it quickly became clear that the shy Herman and Fleur are a golden match. It was therefore no surprise that Herman, who runs a dairy farm with his parents in the French Provence, chose the history teacher.
At first, Fleur always traveled back and forth to France. The couple has now been living together for over a year, in their own farm near Herman’s parents.
The two are still very happy. Fleur: “It’s so nice to know that he will be home soon. And that you can just sit on the couch together, instead of calling every day and counting down the days until you see each other again.”
Fleur tells on the website of farmer seeks wife that she helps on the dairy farm and also teaches online. The couple’s dream is to start a bed and breakfast on the farm.
david in marah
The 2016/2017 season produced another couple: David and Mara. The farmer lived in Romania at the time and had a pig farm there. In the reunion episode, the two mentioned that they regularly visit each other. “It feels like home at Mara,” said David.
In 2020 Yvon Jaspers visited David for her program Our farm. David and Mara were still very happy, but they now lived in North Brabant. There he started as a farmer. At that time, David still occasionally traveled to Romania, but it is not known whether this is still the case.
Ok
Olke, who has a dairy farm in the US state of Texas, saw two candidates leave of their own accord during the program. Sandra was left, but turned out not to be the true love for the farmer, although that choice was hers. She felt nothing more than friendship.
In the reunion episode, Olke said that he was still happy in love. After his ‘failed’ adventure, he decided to go through all the letters he considered BODcandidate received. Olke still contacted the American Karen, who lived in the same village as he did. Sadly, Karen passed away in 2018 from breast cancer.
Olke found support in Hilda, whom he soon married. The marriage did not last long. He is now happy with the American Jenny. The couple married in 2021 and according to the latest reports, they are still together.
National
One of the most notable participants from the previous international season is Riks, who lives in Canada. There was absolutely no chemistry between him and his three chosen wives. The city trip he took with the last remaining candidate, Marit, was described as “icy”.
It later turned out that the farmer’s thoughts were with another woman. For the recordings of farmer seeks wife he temporarily employed Nicole, a fellow villager who helped him with the work on the farm. At the reunion, Riks said she was “too urban” for him.
Still, Nicole kept looming in the farmer’s mind. He decided to call her, they went on a date and they got into a relationship. In 2017, Riks proposed to Nicole at the beaver dam behind his farm.
Marc
He is also called the ’tilapiahunk’: farmer Marc from Zambia. The tilapia breeder found love with candidate Annekim during the recordings. Both have a love for Africa and love nature: it seemed like a perfect match. At the reunion episode, they were still very happy. There was even talk of starting a family.
Yet the love faded. After eight months, the couple called it quits. Annekim: “I’ve noticed lately that I’ve been throwing myself more and more into my work and had less of a need to be with Marc.”
The news that Marc was single again was noticed by BODfan Merel. She sent the tilapia breeder a message via Facebook. During their first date, rafting at the Victoria Falls in Zambia, it turned out that there was a click.
In 2019 they became parents of son Vos Melle Jels. Marc now lives in Uganda. He has one week a month off to come to the Netherlands, where Merel still lives. She does not want to emigrate because of her son from a previous relationship.
