Check the Latest Cooking Oil Prices Here, Is It Really Down?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Cooking oil prices are known to have decreased since the government closed the export faucet on April 28. In fact, the stock of basic community needs is seen in abundance in various markets to modern retail.

The price decline occurred because of the discount promo at that time. Secretary General of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) Solihin said promotional programs or price discounts are something that retailers should do.

“If you say because of current conditions, there is a ban on exports and prices have dropped, not yet,” Solihin told CNBC Indonesia at the end of April.

According to him, the decision to give a price discount is usually the result of cooperation between the retailer and the principal owner of the goods, or the store considers the condition of excess stock.

“What is clear is that we have standard margins. For fast moving goods, it is difficult for us to take large margins. Especially price sensitive items such as cooking oil and sugar. Consumers will assume that they are too expensive and will no longer want to shop with us,” explained Solihin.

At the beginning of this year the price of cooking oil reached Rp 20,150 – 20,500 per kilogram depending on the brand. Meanwhile, the price of bulk cooking oil reached Rp 18,650 per kilogram.
