Already this week – from September 24 to 26 in Ķīpsala – at the international car industry exhibition “Auto 2021” there will be an ambitious e-mobility exposition “Ripo green” organized by the Auto Association, where you can see electric cars, get information about charging options and vehicle operation.
Sales volumes of electric cars in Latvia are constantly growing – every month about 100 new and used electric cars are added to the fleet. The state support announced in 2022 in the amount of 4,500 euros for the purchase of a new electric car has significantly increased the interest of car buyers in purchasing an electric vehicle. In a survey of Skandi Motors and Norstat, 44% of potential new car buyers admitted that state support for the purchase of a new electric car would significantly motivate them to choose an electric car as the next vehicle.
“The market is reacting to the government’s announced financial support for the purchase of electric cars. Private individuals postpone the purchase of an electric car until next year in the hope of receiving this support. At the same time, the current records in the segment of purchase of used electric vehicles are pleasing. This means that more and more people are ready to call their cars an electric car, ”comments Andris Kulbergs, President of the Auto Association.
