New Delhi
In a joint statement, five left-wing parties called for October 7, the one-year anniversary of Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza, to be observed as Palestine Solidarity Day. On October 7, 2023, Israel launched a brutal and indiscriminate attack on Gaza in response to the attack by Hamas inside Israel. According to the official medical journal ‘The Lancet’, the number of people who lost their lives until August 6 will exceed 85,000 in the Israeli attack.
The International Court of Justice, which noted in January that Israel’s actions were genocide, asked Israel to stop its military campaign. Israel used pagers and other means of communication to blast them, escalating the conflict and spilling over into Lebanon. The peace loving people of India want an immediate end to the war. Left parties across the country will organize demonstrations and meetings on the first anniversary of the war, demanding an immediate ceasefire. Left-wing parties called on the central government to stop arms exports to Israel and work towards a bi-national solution to establish an independent Palestinian state.
The statement was released by Prakash Karat (CPI-M), D Raja (CPI), Dipankar Bhattacharya (CPI ML – Liberation), Manoj Bhattacharya (RSP) and G Devarajan (Forward Bloc).
