Chechnya: 4 people died in a fire at a gas station

Sharjah 24 – AFP:

Four people, including two children, died as a result of a fire at a gas station in the Russian Republic of Chechnya, emergency services said on Saturday.

The authorities released pictures showing more than twenty firefighters working to extinguish a fire at a gas station that was almost completely engulfed in flames in the city of Grozny.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry said, “Unfortunately, four people died, including two children,” adding that the fire was extinguished at the station, which is located in the center of the Chechen capital.

Videos on social media showed a huge explosion before flames erupted.

Several deadly explosions have been seen in Russia’s North Caucasus at gas stations recently.

Last month, an explosion at a gas station in neighboring Dagestan province killed 13 people.

In August 2023, a similar explosion in Dagestan also killed 35 people and injured dozens.
