Cheating victim caught at wine festival

It was thanks to the initiative of one of the waitresses that she was able to get her money back.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening shortly before 10 p.m. at the Ulm Wine Festival. A group of people who were big drinkers had made extensive use of the festival’s offerings and had also paid a considerable sum to the waitress. Apparently, the group was still thirsty after paying their bill and ordered more drinks. When the 18-year-old waitress later wanted to collect the additional order, her guests had suddenly disappeared. She promptly began investigating the alleged dine-and-drink skippers and questioned guests sitting nearby. It was quickly established that the group had left in the direction of the train station to catch a train to Bad Saulgau. The waitress promptly went from Münsterplatz to the train station on platform 6. There she met her guests again. After being reminded of the matter, it was like scales fell from their eyes: their bill had not been paid. In the presence of a patrol from the Ulm-Mitte police station, they assured that they had indeed forgotten to pay their debts in the haze of wine. Considering the amount of total consumption, this was actually believable. The waitress immediately received the outstanding 66 euros, along with a generous tip. After everyone was satisfied, the patrol from the Ulm-Mitte police station left without further investigation.
