Cheapest Motorola G Series Phones Launched

Jakarta, Selular.ID – Motorola just launched the Moto G Pure and it’s the cheapest phone in the G series. At $160 in the US, it’s cheaper than the $170 G Play. The two phones are similar in many ways, but the Pure will have to compromise to reach a lower price point.

The phone is powered by the Helio G25, the lowest tier of the Helio G ladder. The 12nm chip uses eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. While its brother Moto G Play is powered by Snapdragon 460, an 11 nm chip with four large cores derived from the A73 and the faster Adreno 610 GPU.

On top of that, the battery is 20% smaller at 4,000mAh (vs. 5,000mAh), and already supports the same 10W charging using the supplied adapter. Motorola claims the battery is big enough to last two days of regular use.

The rest of the specs are mostly the same. The G Pure comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage with a microSD expansion slot. The phone does come with the newer Android 11.

Like its sibling, this phone has a plastic body with some basic waterproofing (IP52). However, it is thinner and lighter, measuring 8.75mm and 188g compared to 9.4mm and 204g on the G Play.

With an identical 6.5” IPS LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1,600 px (20:9). The 5 MP notched front camera has the same pixel size (1.12 m) but a darker aperture (f/2.4 vs. f/2.2) compared to the Play.

The same goes for the 13 MP main camera (1.12 m pixels, f/2.2 vs. f/2.0 aperture). The front and rear cameras can shoot 1080p video at 30 fps while the Play can also do 1080p 60 fps with the rear camera. Anyway, the 13 MP camera is paired with a 2 MP depth sensor, along with a single LED flash. There is also a fingerprint reader on the back.

This phone is only available as a single SIM device. There’s also Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.0, but no NFC. Wired connectivity includes a USB-C 2.0 port on the bottom and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top.

The Motorola Moto G Pure will go on pre-order in the US on October 14 and there is only one single color, Deep Indigo.
