Gamers often associate a video game’s peak in popularity with the time it was released. The standard seems to be that a game’s popularity can only be measured by the number of players it has managed to reach in at least the first two weeks of its launch. Although there are many cases where the “old” games actually find their energy after being available on the market for a long time, they can be pushed by several things, one by one or at the same time. For Rockstar Games’ cowboy simulation game – Red Dead Redemption 2, this momentum comes from the Steam Autumn Sales.
Rockstar’s decision to inject a 67% discount for Red Dead Redemption 2 into the Steam Fall Sale, which at the time of writing could be had for Rp only. 211,200, it ended well. The number of players that continued to grow eventually accumulated to a peak of 66,492 concurrent users, making it listed as the number of concurrent players of RDR2 so far. This figure even exceeds the maximum number of players after yesterday’s December 2019 release period which “only” had around 55,000 players.
This popularity, of course, comes with a bit of sadness, considering Rockstar itself is no longer interested in supporting the online mode it offers – Red Dead Online on behalf of focusing on GTA Online and GTA VI which are in development. And you? Participate in this issue?
