Buenos Aires/Prensa Latina
Che is still alive and is present today in every worker and popular mobilization, said Juan Martín, brother of the Argentine-Cuban revolutionary Ernesto Guevara (1928-1967).
In statements to Prensa Latina on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the murder of the Heroic Guerrilla, the youngest of the Guevara de la Serna stated that each flag that appears with his face is a sign that his thoughts and example are still valid.
It was his body that disappeared, but everything he wrote, what he said and did, is here, he asserted.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the best way to pay tribute to him is to fight.
This is a pretty difficult time. There are different forms of fighting and in each circumstance one or the other can be used. This is the best tribute: never give up or accept that things happen just because. Everything has a reason and there is always someone who handles it. So, we have to act on that, he indicated.
Furthermore, he considered it essential to bring Che’s thoughts and work to young people, especially in a world marked by the advance of new technologies, social networks and the Internet.
We have to learn and work with youth to confront those who seek to maintain a status quo or make the situation worse, he said.
On the other hand, he asserted that the ties between Cuba and Argentina will never be broken, “no matter how much the government here changes.”
The relationship between our peoples will always be good, he commented.
During the last few days, several initiatives took place in this capital to highlight the legacy of a renowned fighter, including a discussion at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires.
Also on display at the Cuban embassy here is the exhibition When Ernesto dreamed of Che, which proposes a journey, through photos, documents and testimonies, along the path traveled by the outstanding revolutionary.
