It has already been reported that on Tuesday Mārtiņš Laksa scored eight points in Lublin’s Start subgroup D game, conceding with 75:84 (19:21, 13:23, 24:17, 19:23) to Sombathay’s Falco Vulcano and experiencing a second failure tournament.
“Start” with two losses in the group of four teams is third, but “Nizhny Novgorod” has not left the field yet.
In the new season, the place in the main tournament was won by all the teams that were still fighting for the trophy last season. In total, 28 clubs, including “VEF Rīga”, won a place in next season’s main tournament. Four more clubs were identified in qualifying competitions.
The clubs will play six games in each group (three games – at home, three – away), with the two best teams in each group qualifying for the quarterfinals.
Twelve days of play will take place from October to January, with teams for one group scheduled every two weeks. The first games will take place from October 20 to 21.
