Chathurrashtra Twenty20 Tournament Starts Today The Four Nations Twenty20 tournament starts today

Muscat: The Sultanate will once again host the Chaturrastra Twenty20 cricket tournament. In addition to the hosts, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are the teams involved in the match which will be played from today at 9 pm at the Oman Cricket Academy ground in the emirate, where Oman will face Saudi Arabia in the first match of the tournament. The match is at 4pm. Canada will play Bahrain in their second game at 20:00. The matches will be played in a round robin style in which all the teams will face each other. The two teams with the most points will advance to the final.

Oman Cricket chief development officer Duleep Mendis said this was a good opportunity for countries like Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to play quality cricket against teams like Oman and Canada. After the T20, the hosts will play three ODIs against Canada.

Currently, Oman ranks first in the ICC World Cricket League-2 (WCL), in which seven countries participate. The other teams in the group are Namibia, USA, Papua New Guinea, United Arab Emirates, Nepal and Scotland, while Oman are in first position with 44 points from 36 games. Scotland are close behind with 40 points from 28 games. The USA is in third place with 29 points in 32 games.

The performances of the other teams are UAE (27 points from 26 games), Namibia (26 points from 22), Nepal (17 from 20 games) and PNG (five from 24 games).
