ChatGPT’s highly anticipated search feature is now live. It’s called ChatGPT Search and it searches the web for you. The kicker is that it is integrated with ChatGPT and ChatGPT Search may search for specific things that you ask it to do. You can also manually click/tap on the search option after typing something in the text box.
OpenAI says ChatGPT Search “combines the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes and more.” The company has partnered with “news and data providers to add timely information and new visual designs for categories such as weather, stocks, sports, news and maps.”
Chats with ChatGPT now contain links to sources such as news articles and blog posts. Actually, this was probably OpenAI’s plan from the start, but better late than never. However, you must click the “Sources” button below the answer for a sidebar to open with all the references.
OpenAI says it worked extensively with the news industry before this launch and listened closely to feedback from its global publishing partners. The feedback from the SearchGPT prototype was also incorporated into the ChatGPT search. In the future, the company promises to improve the new service “particularly in areas such as shopping and travel.” So where money flows – Google Shopping and the search for a monetization model send warm regards.
ChatGPT Search is now available at chatgpt.com Available through both the ChatGPT desktop and mobile apps. However, access is limited to ChatGPT Plus and Team subscriptions, as well as SearchGPT waitlist users. Enterprise and Edu customers will gain access “in the next few weeks.” Free users should gain access “in the coming months.”
