The AI service ChatGPT is down worldwide. The company says it is working to fix the problem.
On Saturday night there was a major breakdown at the AI provider Open AI. The ChatGPT service was unavailable worldwide for a long time. “We are aware of an issue that resulted in ChatGPT being unavailable. We are currently investigating the issue and are working to restore functionality as quickly as possible,” it initially said on the OpenAI website. A short time later, the company reported: “We have found the cause of this problem and are currently working on a solution.” After an hour, the problem was resolved and most users had access to the service again.
News of the disruption spread quickly on social media. Some users joked that students around the world now have a problem. ChaGPT is increasingly being used to help with homework. Another wrote that “people are probably fighting back now.”
ChatGPT is an AI-based language model developed by OpenAI. It is capable of responding to natural language and conducting human-like conversations. ChatGPT can create essays, reports, stories, poems and other texts. Since its last update, it is also able to search for answers on the Internet. Programmers also use it to write certain parts of software. t-online also uses ChatGPT to support some texts, but clearly labels content created with AI. It represents a significant development in the field of artificial intelligence. Other chatbot providers include Claude and Perplexity.
