The president of the IOC evaluation commission, Pierre-Olivier Beckers, reminded the members of the body on Friday that discussions were still in progress concerning the location of basketball, boxing and shooting. However, according to several sources close to the file, it is the capital of Indre which holds the rope to organize the shooting events. It is this choice which should be submitted on July 12 to the board of directors of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (OCOG).

Seine-Saint-Denis does not want to lose an event
Officially, nothing is done. The OCOG is still studying the file for the initial site of the Terrain des essences in La Courneuve. The technical constraints presented by the International Shooting Federation mean that the field initially planned is too small.

As revealed The Team on January 20, the OCOG is thinking of extending the site to the neighboring bowling alley, which requires soil studies and the obtaining of various authorisations, not to mention the risk of appeals which could delay the work. On the side of Paris 2024, we insist on the fact that the studies are carried out with the desire to fit everything into the enlarged species site.

According to several speakers, the problem is essentially political, Seine-Saint-Denis not wishing to lose an event scheduled on its territory. But in fact, according to these concordant sources, it is indeed the Deols National Shooting Sport Center which has the preference of the OCOG. The fact that the facilities already exist is a strong argument, but is offset by the distance (279 km and 3 hours drive between Saint-Denis and Deols). After the exile of handball in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, it would be a new penknife stroke in the compactness of the sites.
