The leader Chasson Randle (1.88m, 28 years old) is currently competing in qualifying for the 2023 World Cup. He is not the most famous of the American internationals, but he is loyal to the USA jersey.
His CV shows 119 NBA matches, extended stays in the G-League, stints at Real Madrid, the Czech Republic and China, and also a first selection under the star-spangled banner 12 years ago, with the U16. He won the first U17 World Championship the following year. And he was then called up for international windows, especially during qualifying for the 2019 World Cup. What great memories.
“They all hold a special place in my heart,” he said a few days ago. “Not many people can say they played for their national team, and won with their national team. I enjoyed this experience so much when I was 16 that whenever they ask me to come and play I’m always ready to come if I’m available. Because the experience I had then is something that I have always carried with me throughout my career, all my life. It is always a great experience when you put these three letters on your chest. It’s one of the best things in life. ”
Chasson Randle now has solid experience which he wants to share with his young team members. All are gathered this time for two qualifying matches for the 2023 World Cup against Cuba and Mexico.
“The intensity of our workouts has been high, the caliber of play has been high, and we have a great group of guys here who are fighting every day, just trying to improve and learn the system that the coach does. (Jim) Boylen has set it up for us. Every day we just focus on our job to get to Mexico and get two victories. Coach Boylen’s system is pretty straightforward to understand, so it’s easy for us to come together to play the right way. I’m a fan of the style of the game we play. I think we are going to do great things. ”
Chasson Randle believes that these international windows have allowed him to expand his career:
“USA Basketball has definitely helped me as a resume maker. Whenever you play for your national team, people respect that. ”
Moreover, Randle is currently a free agent and hopes to get a contract as soon as possible.
