Chasse-sur-Rhone. 500 kilos of copper in stolen cables

The theft was noticed on Tuesday 6 December, mid-morning, by SNCF agents at Chasse-sur-Rhône station. They discovered that a warehouse at the vast marshalling yard had been fractured. To enter the room, the attackers made their way by cutting a hole in the metal cladding with pliers.

Then, once inside the building, they deactivated the various security systems, in order to act without waking anyone up. They then opened an automatic gate to allow a van to enter the premises.

Once out of sight, they loaded the latter with cables and copper bars. Once the loot was loaded, the thieves got away. Warned, the gendarmes of Chasse-sur-Rhône moved to make the first reliefs.

According to the first elements, the theft could date back to several days ago. As for the damage, it is estimated at around 500 kg of copper. Cross-checks will also be carried out with the thefts of the same nature committed in recent days, in particular in Condrieu, in a building also belonging to the SNCF.
