Russian occupation troops are trying to capture Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region. This settlement is the key to the strategic cities of the Ukrainian defense – Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.
He said this on the air of the TV channel FREEDOM military and political analyst Dmytro Snegiryov. He noted that the landscape features of Chasovoy Yar provide a tactical advantage and fire control.
“Chasiv Yar is the key to Ukrainian defense, namely to the strategic cities of Kostyantynivka, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk. This city covers the possibility of the further advance of the Russian invaders deep into Ukrainian territory,” the expert explained.
According to Snegiryov, the fact that Chasiv Yar is located on dominant heights also plays an important role. Therefore, control over the city gives a tactical and operational advantage at the time of fire damage and fire control of locations.
“That is, the impossibility of transporting ammunition, transporting the wounded, conducting rotations. The occupiers tried to break into the eastern part of the city, by the way, this part is located on the dominant heights, and therefore control over this part of the city will continue to determine the nature of hostilities not only in the area Chasovoy Yar,” the analyst said.
In addition, this city is an important transport junction, because the routes from the Bakhmut direction and from the side of the occupied part of the Luhansk region intersect there.

The occupier plans to try to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk region by May. Therefore, it is no coincidence that pressure is on this direction.
