Kyle Shanahan, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, spoke to the media on Monday to provide more information on players injured after Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks and other team news. There are two big stars who appear on Shanahan’s injury report along with other important San Francisco players. In addition, one of their main defenders joins the 49ers team again.
Bosa and Purdy on the Injured List
Shanahan began by mentioning which players were injured during the game against the Seahawks. Among them are defensive lineman Nick Bosa, who already had discomfort before the game in his hip and quarterback Brock Purdy also appeared on the injury report.
“Injuries from the game: Wide receiver Jacob Cowing will be in protocol (concussion). Linebacker Tatum Bethune has a sprained MCL, will be out for a while. Nick Bosa, hip/oblique, will be evaluated at Throughout this week, Brock Purdy has some soreness in his right shoulder, he’s day to day. That’s all for the game,” Shanahan reported.
Ward Returns
The San Francisco coach reported that cornerback, Charvarius Ward, has rejoined the team. Ward was absent due to the unfortunate death of his young daughter during the bye week.
“Yes, (he rejoined the team). Today he was at our team meeting,” Shanahan said. “He attended the game yesterday. He did some workouts over the weekend with Dustin Perry, our strength and conditioning coach. And we’ll see how he does this week,” Shanahan said.
Greenlaw Will Not Be Activated Yet
Additionally, Shanahan provided a report on linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who is on the unable to perform (PUP) list due to the Achilles tendon injury he suffered during Super Bowl LVIII. The San Francisco coach says that this week Greenlaw will remain on that list, but I do not rule out activating him for next week.
“I think the same thing I said last week. He’s doing his practice simulations by himself without other players and hopefully we’ll get him back for practice next week,” Shanahan explained.
Kittle Could Train on Wednesday
The 49ers coach was also asked about the status of his tight end, George Kittle, who was unable to play Sunday, and Shanahan is optimistic he will have him back for Wednesday’s practice. Kittle has battled a hamstring soreness since last week leading up to the game against Seattle.
“He should be at practice on Wednesday. I know he was close to playing yesterday, so I think he’ll be ready to practice on Wednesday,” Shanahan said.

(Interviewer) Good morning everyone, welcome to World Today News. Today, we have a special edition dedicated to the San Francisco 49ers. Joining us first, we have Coach Kyle Shanahan, who has just confirmed some unfortunate injuries and their status. Coach, please tell us more about the situation with your key players Nick Bosa and Brock Purdy. How concerned are you about their injuries and what do you think is the timeline for their return?
(Kyle Shanahan) Well, first of all, we are always concerned when one of our players is injured. Unfortunately, these things happen in the NFL. About Bosa, he has a hip and oblique injury and we will be evaluating him throughout this week. As for Purdy, he has some shoulder soreness and is day to day at the moment. We have a great medical staff who will closely monitor both players to ensure they get properly treated and recover on time.
(Interviewer) Thank you for that update, Coach. Moving on to the return of Charvarius Ward. How has his return been so far? And how do you think this will impact the team’s chemistry after such a tough loss?
(Kyle Shanahan) It has been great to have him back with us. Losing a loved one is always tough, and it was unfortunate what happened to him and his family. However, his presence has certainly lifted the spirits of the team. Charvarius is a valuable player and we are excited to have him back in the lineup. It is too early to say how this will impact our chemistry, but it’s always good to have a player of his caliber back on the field.
(Interviewer) Of course, we understand that. Now, let’s talk about Dre Greenlaw. He has been on the PUP list due to an Achilles injury. You mentioned he might be back by next week. Any updates on his progress or when you expect him to start practicing again?
(Kyle Shanahan) Yes, he’s still on the PUP list this week, but we are hopeful that he will start practicing with the team next week. He is doing some practice simulations by himself which is a good sign. However, we want to be cautious and make sure he is
