Chartres wins against Strasbourg and takes the basket-average

Before this 19th day, they were five to occupy 3rd place. Now, they are only two, Reims and Chartres, which came to the end of a tough GIS. The icing on the cake, Benoît Marty’s protégés have caught up with their average basket. Beaten by eight points in the first leg in Alsace (67-59), they managed to win by ten (65-55). A gap that can be valuable to place well in view of the play-offs.

Bruised in the first period

Before arriving at these ten lengths in advance, the Chartraines had nevertheless to yield a little ground in the first period. Abused in the first quarter against Dambach and co (2-6, 3 ‘), the Chartraines started the second act voiceless. Straddling the first and second quarters, they scored no points for six minutes before Mfutila finally found the target (16-19, 14′). But the Strasbourgeoises regained the upper hand under the impetus of Mantelin and El Garti (16-23, 16’). Hampered under the circle by the imposing Manala and his 2.02m, the Chartraines still managed to return to the locker room with a small length of delay (25-26, 20 ‘). A lesser evil.

A 10-0 that bends Strasbourg

But, back on the field, it was not the same music. The Chartraines fired from 3 points with Long, Marié and Bienvenu (36-30, 25′). The CCBF were in front and would continue to simmer a SIG which was no longer there and which was committing foul after foul (44-32, 29′).

In the last act, Strasbourg completely lost their footing, unable to stop Long under the circle. And thanks to a 10-0, the CCBF headed for a quieter success (59-41, 37′). But, in the money-time, the Alsatians grew bolder and printed a conclusive all-terrain pressing since they came back to ten points two minutes from the siren (59-49). For the Chartraines, it was necessary to give a shot of cooking to preserve the basket-average. What was done not without difficulty (65-55).
