In a place empty of visitors, Grégoire Hallé, the new curator of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Chartres (Eure-et-Loir), seems to have already taken its marks. “All the planets are aligned”, to carry out its mission: to give strength and enhance the collection.
A beautiful bond seems to be emerging between this Norman and the assistant in charge of Culture, Isabelle Vincent. “Grégoire’s profile ticked all the boxes, what made the difference was his dynamism”.
Son of a railway worker, Grégoire Hallé was born in Rouen (Seine-Maritime) and grew up in Le Havre. Child then adolescent, he “dragged his feet” at each cultural visit organized by its teachers.
Over the course of discussions, his curiosity increases. He joined a preparatory literary class, before moving on to a course in History of Arts at theLouvre School.
His student career continues atNational Heritage Institute, which allows him to create a network.
The need for “real seasons”
Passed by the Fabre museum in Montpellier (Hérault), he finally settles in Draguignan (Var) in 2016, where he gives an identity to the Museum of Fine Arts, “which was before an art and history museum”.
The sound of cicadas, the summer temperature… “I wanted to get closer to a context of life that suits me more, with in particular the real seasons”, explains the curator.
In Chartres, there is a certain heritage dimension. I always said to myself: “there is something to do here”.
So when friends forward the ad to him, in January 2020, Grégoire hesitates. “It was my first post, strong financial and political commitments were made in Draguignan, I couldn’t leave everything like that”.
The assistant Isabelle Vincent comes into the game. “We didn’t want to rush and find the right person”.
In post shared with Draguignan
The health crisis delays recruitment, but Grégoire decides to join the Chartres adventure.
Draguignan makes the curator available to Chartres from the month October 2020, a few days a month.
Grégoire still has a few missions to accomplish in Draguignan, so we are sharing it for a few more months.
The curator discovers day after day the collection of the Chartres museum, pending new projects, somewhat on hold, as a result of the closure of cultural venues …
In lack of culture? Get away tonight, with some music:
