Chartrain playwright Antoine Marneur is preparing a big project: root of three, a text by Pierre Margot, which he directs. The piece is a real craze among professionals, since it has just won a prestigious award.

You have just won the Artcena prize. What does this imply ?
I’m directing a play by Pierre Margot, root of three. And we have just won this prize in Avignon. Initially, there were sixty projects, and we won. We won a creation grant of €20,000 and a national tour of around fifteen dates was guaranteed. We will play in Orléans, Dax, Millau, Perpignan, etc. But before all that, we will show the play in preview at the Off de Chartres, from January 2023. The Théâtre de Chartres is also co-producing the show.

What says root of three ?
We have a great team. I sign the staging and three actors will be on stage. It’s quite complicated to tell. There are three friends who are a bit lost. They don’t really understand the world around them. A great complicity binds them. They will try to move forward together in this crazy world. It’s a funny, poetic, absurd and deep piece… We talk a lot about nature and the world. It’s metaphysical, philosophical… But it’s not a story that goes from point A to point B.

When are you going to start rehearsing?
From July, at Off, with a second phase in December. There is a real dynamic that sets in. We feel a craze in the Centre-Val de Loire region. The ultimate goal is to go and play in Paris, between 2023 and 2024.
