The large crowd observed during the registrations was therefore observed not only on the roads to Chartres, but also on arrival at the cathedral. The pilgrims were welcomed by the Bishop of Chartres, Mgr Christory. The closing Mass was then celebrated by Bishop Thomas Gullickson, Emeritus Nuncio who recalled that “nothing will ever replace a Mass for the salvation of souls”.
