Dear pilgrim friends,
After two years of regional pilgrimages, that is Well to finally find you on the road to Chartres, which is more for our fortieth pilgrimage. In this time of elections, we fervently implore the Sacred Heart, Hope and Salvation of Nations and we will immerse ourselves in His infinite Love with confidence.
Taking your pilgrim’s staff on the roads from Paris to Chartres means giving Jesus and Mary 3 days, cutting yourself off from everything to get back to basics. For 72 hours, it’s forgetting your worries, your burdens, your emails, your whatsapp, instagram and sms. It is to unburden yourself of everything to entrust it to prayer, to step back and give yourself the chance to leave with a fresh look, a lighter heart, a revitalized soul!
Chartres is the beauty of a thousand faces of children aged 6 to 12who walk at their own pace in the children’s chapters, supervised by energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated leaders and female leaders to give them the joy of effort, the sense of mutual aid, the thirst for holiness.
Chartres is the budding vigor of the Pastoureaux aged 13 to 16conquering teenagers, thirsty for plenitude, accompanied by a shock team and chaplains of fire: what better bath to help them grow in the beautiful and the true than these 3 days turned towards the requirement of an ideal that they no longer hear elsewhere?
Chartres is the immensity of a renewed adult Christendom, whose youth belies any despair of the aging of the eldest daughter of the Churchdrawing from the roots of Tradition, this “youth of God” as Dom Gérard said so well!
Chartres is Pentecost, the therefore universal Catholic Church, with its 1300 foreign pilgrims from all continents!
Chartres is 50 family chapters (1300 adults and 1350 children) which unite under the gaze of God, young and old under the same banner.
Chartres is a sky feathered with several thousand guardian angelson all continents: our pilgrims who cannot walk between Paris and Chartres for reasons of age, physical, maternity, expatriation and with whom prisons, monasteries, retirement homes and parishes are associated spiritually united to the column in communion of prayer.
Chartres is the Emmaus chapter which walks in the column but also and above all around it to announce Jesus to the passers-by encountered.
Chartres is also thousands of volunteers; from the DIRPEL (direction of pilgrims), which recruits, structures and animates the 250 chapters… to the DIRSOUT (direction of support), in charge of stewardship, logistics, kitchens, toilets, security , order service, health… All work in joy and in the shadows in the service of each of you so that Christianity remains!
Carry them in your prayers, dear pilgrims, and do not hesitate to come and strengthen their ranks by volunteering.
Chartres is this huge family of hundreds of thousands of pilgrims who for 40 years have been pilgrims to Notre Dame to adore Jesus.
