This Monday 22 March 2021, the Cities of France association published, with Mytraffic, the ranking of the most dynamic city centers in France, which draws up a list of thirty medium-sized cities with the highest attendance since the start of the health crisis.
The city of Chartres (Eure-et-Loir) figure in seventh position, with 1,65 million monthly passages on average since March 2020, and an attendance flow maintained at 75%.
Jean-Pierre Gorges will explain this “Chartrain success” in a future video
According to the mayor of Chartres, several keys are at the origin of the dynamism of the city center : group activities in the center to create passage, allow everyone to enjoy the city center: “I want to see the children again playing ball in the squares”.
And in its objectives: to reclaim housing in the city center, especially those located above shops, and buildings, with the operation of rehabilitation of facades.
Everything relating to life in society has been installed in the city center. Thus, we have a heritage, tourist and cultural center in the heart of an area of 300,000 inhabitants.
How was the ranking established?
The Mytraffic software uses geolocation data from mobile applications, collected by the applications when the user has given their consent. These data are anonymized and recorded in statistical form. To establish this ranking, Mytraffic has counted the passages in more than 180 downtown areas of cities with less than 100,000 inhabitants between March 2020 and January 2021. The index of resistance to the crisis was calculated by comparing the average attendance since March 16, 2020, compared to the pre-crisis one.
