The elected officials began by saluting the colors of France and the United States, where the military forces that contributed to the liberation of the city in 1944 originated.

The American anthem and The Marseillaise were played by the orchestra of harmony of Chartres. Then a reading of texts from the municipal archives relating to the liberation of Chartres by Yves Cuzin, municipal councilor delegated in particular to memory, was followed by the laying of five wreaths: in the name of the veterans, in the name of the military delegation of ‘Eure-et-Loir, in the name of the Departmental Council, in the name of the City of Chartres and, finally, in the name of the prefecture of Eure-et-Loir filed by the prefect himself.
