The classic census of the population of Chartres (Eure-et-Loir) was postponed in 2021. On the other hand, it is back this year and will take place from January 20 to February 26, 2022.
The City recalls that this necessary operation is of particular importance in anticipating needs and infrastructures.
The State matches its participation to these figures
Age, profession, means of transport used, housing conditions, family life are among the elements identified. One way to develop a fairly precise map of the official population of municipalities in France.

The census manual
The City has recruited ten enumerators trained by INSEE, which constitutes the directory of addresses to be identified by drawing lots. In Chartres, 10% of the population is enumerated each year.
Two forms are to be completed during the census: the housing sheet and an individual bulletin per inhabitant.
Four ways to register
- On internet (with the code and password which will be given to you by the enumerator);
- Through a enumerator, who completes the questionnaire online on site using a digital tablet;
- Through an enumerator, who is on hand to complete the paper questionnaire in your presence.
- By completing the paper questionnaires before depositing them at the town hall or handing them over to the census enumerator.
The Internet is the easiest way to register. The agents give the notice on which the login credentials to the site appear. The census and me. Then all you have to do is answer the online questionnaire.
The City sends the paper questionnaires to INSEE (internet responses reach it directly), which processes the data, checks and validates the results before communicating the figures to the town hall and to the public.
The census is mandatory and confidential (no name or address is kept).
